Bella Tromba at Cheltenham Music Festival 2007
Just back from the Cheltenham Music Festival and had a fabulous time. Both premieres, Blockhead – Maxim Bendall and Berceuse in a Box – Paul Whitmarsh, went down well and was great to have both composers at the recital. (Maxim conducted his piece so was extra important he came along!). It was great to hear the composers talk about their pieces before we played them, it gave the audience a real insight into both the pieces and the composer. We even demonstrated some techniques in Maxims piece, including Clare's demonstration of a horse whinny. The flaccid, farty opening of Maxims piece resulted in a few quiet chuckles in the audience! We even spotted Miss Patricia Routledge CBE (Mrs Bucket)!
The following two days took the group plus composers to several schools in Cheltenham where the students got a chance to hear the premieres and the composers gave talks on their pieces. We also workshopped our jazz pieces and the pupils joined in our march using varoius percussion instruments.
Bella Tromba are now into the wedding season so we are currently putting together some music for several ceremonies which will take us busily through the summer! If you are prospective bride please get in touch and let Bella Tromba make your day a memorable one. Keep checking our website for more information about forthcoming recitals and projects the group are planning.
